Job Description
Discovery Postdoctoral Fellow position: Immunology
The Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) is the innovation engine of Novartis. We collaborate across scientific and organizational boundaries, with a focus on powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients.
Iscalimab (CFZ533) is an anti-CD40 antibody that was developed in our department and is currently in clinical development for allograft transplantation and different autoimmune diseases. The iscalimab research group (C. Regnier mentor profile) focuses on the cellular, biochemical and molecular outcomes of CD40-CD40 ligand (CD40L) interactions, which is of pivotal importance in the regulation of immune responses. Broadening the knowledge on the biology of the CD40-CD40L axis in both immune effector cells and non-immune cells will support better understanding of its contribution to diverse immune disease patho-mechanisms.
We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to investigate the relationship between CD40 receptor internalization and downstream signaling pathways in various CD40-expressing cell types. This will enable us to further understand the biological consequences of CD40 blockade at the molecular level. We are equipped with state-of-the-art flow cytometry, imaging, biochemical and molecular technologies as well as expertise in CRISPR, immunology and translational research. A variety of tools to interrogate CD40 expression, pathway activation in multiple cellular systems and pre-clinical models are also established.
Minimum requirements
The candidate will have experience in cellular and biochemical analyses of immune cell signaling, complemented by robust knowledge of endocytosis and endosomal trafficking. Expertise in cutting-edge microscopy techniques and bioinformatics data analyses will be an asset. The successful candidate will join a vibrant scientific community and collaborate with other postdoctoral fellows mentored by a range of scientists across disciplines and platforms, including chemistry, structural biology, molecular biology, functional genomics, neurophysiology and translational medicine. Discovery Postdoctoral Fellows at NIBR have a unique opportunity to conduct innovative, interdisciplinary research and are expected to publish their results in leading journals. The postdoctoral term is up to 4 years.
Qualifications:
- Recent PhD graduates in cellular and molecular biology or immunology (PhD students in the last year of their thesis work, are eligible to apply)
- Knowledge of immune signaling pathways and/or TNF-receptor biology a plus
- Expertise in cutting edge proteomics technologies, analyses of omics data, and/or cellular imaging highly regarded
- Strong publication record
- Excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills
- Candidates must be able to work independently as well as with interdisciplinary teams
Please submit your cover letter and CV, including the contact information (name, institution, phone number, and e-mail address) of 3 references.
