For the space business unit we are looking for an experienced

Senior Embedded Software and Processing Engineer (m/f/d) (Ref. No. R0131081)
at our location in Zürich, Switzerland

You will enjoy having this responsibility:

Lead the embedded software and digital signal processing activities throughout the complete development cycle from conceptual design to qualification of our products.

It also involves the following tasks:

  • Being responsible for embedded software solution as you are acting as the point of contact for software development and shadowing as well as software verification strategies Analysis of processing needs and critical dimensioning of processing units (e.g. micro-processors, FPGA, etc...) in collaboration with solution architect and design responsible.

  • Analyze, develop, specify the dimensioning of processing units for space units and unit checkout equipment

  • Contribute to the conceptual and detailed development of digital electronics with a specialized view on processing elements (MCU, FPGA, DSP) and related requirements

  • Maintain the know-how on processing elements and act as local point of contact within the THALES network

  • Apply industrial and space standards (ECSS and similar)

  • Act as work package (WP) manager for software development and integration WP executed by subcontractors  

  • Establish and maintain systematic for software and as well as coding configuration and support process development/continuous improvement

  • Support of commissioning and test activities involving processing units and contribute to test automation strategy


You have:

  • Technical education (university degree) in electronics engineering, information technology engineering or similar

  • Experience with embedded software and firmware development and testautomation in association with hardware elements development

  • Strong background with software development for space systems is preferred

  • Project management experience related to software engineering might be a benefit

  • Good understanding of engineering processes in terms of improvement and process strategy

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills combined with team working focus

  • A structured, methodical working method as well as the ability to proactively find solutions
