About the role


Do you have strong re/insurance and/or risk management expertise, with a background in life science/medicine/health or law? Are you ready to identify and assess new and changing risks, translate research into business insights and discuss emerging risk implications with key stakeholders?

If yes, the current open role as Senior Emerging Risk Manager in Sustainability, Emerging and Political Risk Management might be an interesting opportunity for you! In this role, you will work in a diverse and dedicated team which detects, assesses and reports emerging risks across the Swiss Re Group.


Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:


  • Research a wide array of societal, environmental, economic, political and technological risks which might become relevant for the industry and Swiss Re more specifically;

  • Lead risk assessments exploring the consequences of specific emerging risks for the re/insurance industry and for Swiss Re in collaboration with experts across the company;

  • Support our core emerging risk processes and the management of our external emerging risk publications

  • Support the further development of our processes (including using digital solutions) and platforms (including a unique crowdsourcing tool);

  • Act as a risk partner for our regional and functional emerging risk networks as well as for the mitigation of emerging risks and development of products and solutions;

  • Contribute to various internal reporting and communication formats

  • Represent Swiss Re selectively in international expert fora and support client-facing staff with client interactions.


About the team


Our Sustainability, Emerging & Political Risk Management team integrates environmental, social and governance issues into Swiss Re's business practices and operations, acts as a catalyst for emerging risks and an analyst for political risks.

More specifically Emerging Risk Management performs forward-looking risk identification. It has the responsibility to capture early risk notions as well as to assess and monitor the emerging risk landscape, its drivers and its impact on the re/insurance industry.

Acting as a catalyst for emerging risk identification, the team entertains a network for early signal detection and qualitative risk assessment across geographies and risk disciplines. We deliver emerging risk insights which help to raise risk awareness, mitigate specific risks and design insurance solutions.


About you


You have worked at least 5 years in re/insurance, with broad experience in (Life & Health) underwriting and/or risk management.

Preferably, you have an advanced degree in life science, medicine, health or law.

In addition, you:


  • Have strong analytical skills and an ability to focus on details without losing sight of the bigger picture

  • Have strong project management and organisational skills

  • Demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments with a proactive attitude, high degree of own initiative and desire for continuous improvement

  • Have a strong preference for interdisciplinary work, a curious mind and the willingness to challenge conventional wisdom and set opinions

  • Excel at teamwork with excellent interpersonal and networking skills

  • Possess strong presentation, communication and writing skills; proficient in English, while German and other languages are a plus

  • Display an affinity with digital technologies and their practical applications

  • Are confident in an international setting, including representing and speaking for the company

  • Are at ease interacting with colleagues across hierarchical levels and geographies
