AI Project Manager- Drug discovery

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of AI projects and programs, from ideation and planning through deployment and post-launch impact assessment
• Manage delivery in a dynamic, research-driven environment, enabling Biomedical Research scientists while embracing change
• Develop and maintain AI project and program roadmaps aligned to organizational priorities and emerging AI trends
• Act as the primary point of contact for AI initiatives, providing clear status updates to stakeholders and leadership
• Ensure consistent application of the AI Project Playbook across projects of varying complexity, risk, and value
• Ensure AI solutions meet ethical standards, data privacy regulations, and responsible AI requirements
• Drive adoption of adaptive and agile project management practices and tools across the organization
• Actively contribute to the project management community, sharing best practices and mentoring junior PMs
• Ensure compliance with global Information Security, Quality, and Data Governance standards
• Where applicable, ensure adherence to GxP regulations (e.g., GLP, GCP) for regulated AI solutions

Experience & Core Skills

• Proven track record of successfully delivering projects and programs in a pharmaceutical or biotech R&D environment
• Strong understanding of the drug discovery and early research process
• 5+ years of experience in project and/or program management
• 1+ year of experience in AI/ML or data-driven environments, including exposure to AI tools, platforms, or development lifecycles
• Proficiency with project execution tools (e.g., Jira, MS Planner, MS Project)
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams of scientific, technical, and business experts
• Excellent communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and organizational skills

Education & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Technology or Life Sciences preferred
  • Background in Biology or Chemistry is a strong plus
• Formal training in project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, PMI-ACP, Certified Scrum Master)
• Formal training in AI and Machine Learning concepts, strategies, and tools
• PMP, CSM and AI certifications (e.g., CPMAI) are strongly preferred
