The Associate Director of Group Tax - Reporting and Accounting is a newly created role for a high performing tax accounting and reporting expert that also has significant IT experience namely in Oracle HFM. From a Tax perspective, the candidate should have over 20+ years of tax accounting and reporting experience and will be part of Amcor’s Group Tax leadership team. The Candidate must have US GAAP and business combination and integration experience. From a Systems perspective, the candidate must have detailed and specialist knowledge of Oracle HFM systems. The Candidate should have familiarity with a broad range of other IT / accounting Systems, as a key part of this role will be the integration of the tax systems and processes of Amcor and Berry
Key Job Accountabilities
Reporting and Analysis
Lead and manage the preparation and review of tax disclosures in Amcor’s group (ie consolidated) US GAAP accounts
Oversee the Amcor Group US GAAP tax reporting processes (quarterly, full year, budget, etc) for key items including tax expense, tax provision, deferred taxes, effective tax rate and cash tax through Amcor’s reporting tools
In conjunction with the VP Tax and other Tax Directors ensure that any variances to budget/forecast tax expense, tax provision and effective tax rate are investigated and either mitigated or managed
In conjunction with the VP Tax, Amcor Treasury and the other Tax Directors, manage Amcor group’s cash repatriation process to ensure that all obligations arising in respect of the group’s internal funding structures are met
Integration of the Amcor and Berry tax systems
Implementing appropriate tax data collection systems / policies
Working with internal audit to ensure appropriate tax risk / review programs are implemented
Develop, implement and maintain internal controls and processes, including co-ordinating the writing of Amcor tax policies
Tax Policies, Procedures and Tax Strategy
Lead the formulation of tax policies in line with Amcor Group policies and procedures
Lead the management of Amcor’s tax risk management framework in order to ensure Amcor’s worldwide taxation risks are appropriately monitored
Support the businesses to optimise their individual and the overall Amcor group tax position by ensuring optimal tax standards and processes are in place
Assist the Group Tax leadership team to develop and deploy the group’s tax strategy
Implement the strategic tax decisions, projects and ideas that drive the Amcor group forward
Identify opportunities for further enhancement and development of Amcor’s tax strategy and function
Country by country reporting and Pillar Two implementation
Lead the group’s compliance with OECD Pillar Two (Global Minimum Tax) requirements, including end-to-end implementation of systems, processes, and controls to ensure accurate calculation and timely reporting across all jurisdictions
Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of the annual Country-by-Country Report (CbCR) for the consolidated group, ensuring consistency with transfer pricing documentation and local regulatory requirements
Partner with finance, technology, and regional tax teams to design and implement data collection and reporting processes that support Pillar Two calculations, safe-harbour assessments, and CbCR submissions
Provide technical analysis and guidance on the interpretation of global minimum tax rules, advising senior management on the financial, operational, and reputational impacts
Monitor evolving legislation, OECD guidance, and local country adoption of Pillar Two to anticipate compliance obligations and manage stakeholder communication (including audit committee and regulators)
Drive process improvements and technology solutions (e.g., tax reporting systems, data automation) to enhance efficiency, governance, and audit readiness for global transparency reporting
Work with the various VPs of Finance (both at Group and BG level) to lead the tax input on substantive cross-border issues and opportunities affecting the Amcor group
Provide tax advice, reporting and support to Amcor Group (including Treasury, Corporate Finance, Global Business Services and IT, HR, Procurement, etc) in relation to commercial issues and projects
Anticipate and respond to law and other regulatory changes that may affect Amcor’s tax profile or position by developing risk mitigating strategies and planning opportunities
