• Zurich is currently seeking an Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriting Director – Construction Casualty to join our Midwest Team in one of the following locations: Ohio, Indiana or Michigan. While this position is remote, you must reside in Ohio, Indiana or Michigan to apply

The Construction Casualty Underwriter is responsible for:

• Serving as a customer industry advocate with a focus on improving the customer experience by understanding their risk and offering the best end to end solution for their insurance needs
• Using a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment and pricing
• Using risk insights, data and models to drive informed decisions at point of sale
• Market facing and production within the growing Construction division
• Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules
• Working within broad limits and authority on complex assignments
• This role will be filled at either the Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriting Director – Construction Casualty level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position

Executive Underwriter – Construction Casualty Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area., OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area , OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area, OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area, AND
• Experience with Microsoft Office
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area or Banking, Mortgage, Finance or Construction, OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area, OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area or Banking, Mortgage, Finance, Construction
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area, AND
• Experience with Microsoft Office,
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced knowledge and practice of line/s of business
• Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines
• Ability to effectively assess risk
• Ability to work in a team-based environment
