Alpiq is looking for an experienced BESS Project Engineer to lead the technical design and optimization of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role offers the chance to work with a leading renewable energy company and actively contribute to the future of energy storage

Your main responsibilities

• Develop technical designs for BESS projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and grid requirements
• Assess design packages and identify technical risks and opportunities during investment and M&A phases
• Support the Technical Lead with analysis, recommendations, and engagement with suppliers and contractors
• Monitor market trends and evaluate new technologies for future project optimization
• Act as a key liaison between technical, commercial, and operations teams

Your profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in renewable energy system design, with at least 2 years focused on BESS projects
• Strong knowledge of BESS design, industry standards (IEC 62933, UL 9540), and relevant software tools (AutoCAD, MATLAB, PSS/E, HOMER)
• Ability to assess risks and evaluate system performance
• Effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
• Proficient in English, German or French as a plus
