We are currently seeking a Biostatistician with a strong medical background to join our dynamic research team. Our work involves conducting clinical trials of interventions with potential public health impact, alongside research into the biological, clinical, environmental, and lifestyle determinants of healthy longevity. Ultimately, our aim is to generate evidence that shapes effective strategies for promoting longer and healthier lives at both individual and population levels.
This position is based at the University of Basel Department of Aging Medicine FELIX PLATTER, which is part of the Swiss Campus for Healthy Longevity. Our team operates in an interdisciplinary and translational research environment which offers a collaborative setting that bridges academic research in an international network and clinical application, making it an ideal environment for impactful public health research.
As part of our team, your main tasks will include:
Cleaning, analyzing, and interpreting data from clinical trials coordinated by our group, in both interventional and observational settings
Developing tables and figures, presenting concepts and results, and summarizing findings for scientific reports and manuscripts
Providing research and methodological support to staff members and doctoral students, including:
Study design and statistical analysis plan development
Sample size and power calculations, generating randomization lists
Data cleaning and statistical analysis
Grant and funding proposal writing, particularly for statistical methods and power analyses
PhD in biostatistics, epidemiology, or a related discipline
Strong methodological skills in state-of-the-art statistical modeling approaches
Significant experience in clinical epidemiological research or large-scale population studies; experience with epigenetic or multi-omic data is a plus
Proficiency in statistical software, particularly SAS or R
Ability to manage and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; German is a plus
