Job Description

The position is within the Cat Tools and Technology team, which is part of the Catastrophe Underwriting Office responsible for research, modeling, pricing, and portfolio analytics of natural catastrophes (Cat).

The Tools and Technology team is leading the developments of all the Cat applications in collaboration with IT to drive innovation and efficiency in managing risk of natural catastrophes.

This temporary role supports the Cat Tools and Technology team on a project in collaboration with PartnerRe’s Capital Management team focusing on automating data processing and enhancing reporting and analytics capabilities.

In more detail your main tasks are to:

• Migrate the financial model cashflow engine from Excel to R
• Design and implement an appropriate database structure for storing inputs and outputs
• Develop dashboard to support structuring and portfolio reporting
• Automate the production of existing reports
• Establish and manage the solution documentation

The role will be based in Zurich.

Qualifications

You are passionate to apply your strong quantitative skills to the development of tools supporting the automation of processes and delivering business solutions.

The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications and personal qualities:

• Master degree in computer science, data engineering, or a related quantitative field
• Strong programming skills in R or Python
• Knowledge of R Shiny and R Markdown is a plus
• Experience with databases (e.g., SQL or Snowflake)
• Interest in data manipulation and data visualization
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Pro-active, solution oriented with a high level of self initiative
• Ability to work well in a team and to contribute towards common goals
• Proficient (written and verbal) in English

You are either an EU or Swiss citizen, or entitled to work in Switzerland.
