The Swiss Library Service Platform (SLSP) – headquartered in Zurich – is a service provider for libraries and collaborates with them tu run the national library platform swisscovery that gathers scientific information from 500 libraries in Switzerland and makes it easily accessible and simple to find.

At SLSP, you benefit from flexible working hours, at least five weeks of vacation per year, a centrally located workplace near Zurich main station, a co-working space in Lausanne, and the option to work from home office (remote work).

For the strategic further development of our communications function, we are looking for an experienced, capable and confident Head of Communications, starting immediately or by arrangement.

In this key role, you will be responsible for all internal and external SLSP communications and will further develop its strategic positioning. As a member of the executive team, you will work directly with manage-ment and be closely networked with managers, specialist departments and project managers. You will play an active role in shaping the communication of a nationally established service organisation and effectively bring issues relating to libraries, academia, technology and innovation to the attention of the specialist community and the general public.

Your responsibilities

• You will further develop SLSP’s communication and marketing strategy and implement it with creative flair and accountability.
• You will carry out professional public relations work in political contexts.
• You will editorially manage and produce content for websites, newsletters, social media, presentations and other formats.

  You will act as a sparring partner to advise senior management and executives on strategic and operational communication issues and help to develop storylines, key messages and public appearances.

• You will increase the visibility of services, strategic projects and innovations through targeted communication and marketing measures. Where necessary, you will support projects and act as the central point of contact for the media and external stakeholders.
• You will ensure a consistent and professional appearance across all channels and formats and fur-ther develop the corporate identity and corporate language.
• You will design and curate communication formats and events and moderate them.

What you bring with you

• You have completed tertiary education or training in communication, public relations, media or a related field.
• You have several years of professional experience in a comparable communications role – ideally in a similar environment.
• You are familiar with the Swiss library and/or university landscape or you are willing to quickly familiarise yourself with it.
• You are a confident writer with excellent editorial skills and the ability to tailor your writing to specific target groups.
  
• You can navigate digital communication channels with ease and understand reach, positioning and marketing logic.
• You have an affinity for digitalisation, AI-based tools and modern communication formats.
• You have proven experience in managing multi-layered stakeholder structures and in project and change management. 

German or French is your first language, and you’re able to express yourself with confidence and in a style that’s appropriate to the target audience (a second national language at least B2 level); you also have very good English skills (at least C1 level); Italian skills are an advantage. 

You work independently, in a structured and strategic manner, have good organisational and prioritisation skills, manage topics and projects effectively and laterally, advise colleagues professionally and make sound, responsible decisions. You are empathetic, a team player, think in a networked way and have good diplomatic skills.
