Zurich International School (ZIS) seeks an experienced and dynamic Interim Middle School Principal for the 2025-2026 school year. This one-year position provides an opportunity to lead our grade 6-8 community while supporting a smooth transition to the school’s long-term leadership structure.

The Interim Middle School Principal will be responsible for fostering a positive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment, leading a talented team of educators, and collaborating closely with school leadership to align with the broader mission and vision of ZIS.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Instructional Leadership • Provide strong instructional leadership to support high-quality teaching and learning. • Guide the division focusing on student engagement, well-being, and high expectations. • Use data-informed decision-making to monitor student progress and inform instructional strategies.

Community & Student Well-Being • Foster a culture of belonging, inclusion, and well-being for students and staff. • Serve as the primary advocate for middle school students, ensuring their academic, social, and emotional needs are met. • Engage parents as partners in student learning and well-being through effective communication and community-building initiatives.

Faculty & Staff Development • Lead, support, and inspire a team of passionate educators through coaching, feedback, and professional development. • Foster a collaborative, high-trust environment that promotes innovation and continuous growth. • Supervise and evaluate faculty and staff to ensure high standards of teaching and professional excellence.

Operational & School Leadership • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the middle school grades, ensuring a safe and structured learning environment. • Work closely with the Director and Senior Leadership Team to align the division’s goals with the strategic direction of ZIS. • Manage the Middle School budget and resources efficiently and effectively. • Ensure smooth transitions for incoming and outgoing students and faculty.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience • Proven leadership experience in an international or independent middle school setting. • Deep understanding of adolescent development and best practices in teaching and learning. • Strong background in curriculum development, student well-being, and faculty development. • Demonstrated ability to foster a positive and inclusive school culture. • Excellent communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills. • Experience managing change, transitions, and complex school dynamics.
