      The opportunity


      Join a dynamic research team shaping the future of energy systems. You will explore how renewable energy, smart grids, and sector coupling are transforming power systems worldwide. This 6 months internship offers a unique chance to contribute to next-generation solutions while developing your skills in a supportive and flexible environment. You’ll work closely with experts across business units and gain valuable insights into innovation and sustainability.

      How you’ll make an impact

      • Perform market analysis on renewables and smart grid topics

      • Derive system and product requirements based on the market analysis

      • Define high-level functional architectures for future solutions

      • Simulate future energy scenarios and technologies

      • Model emerging technologies across power system levels (e.g. DC grids, electro-mobility, energy storage, electrolyzes and fuel cells, demand response, etc.)

      • Develop, maintain and document new techno-economic assessment tools for simulating behavior of energy systems on different time scale

      • Build future energy scenarios on regional and global scales

      Your background

      • Currently pursuing a M.S. degree in electrical engineering or completed a similar M.S. degree less than 12 months ago

      • Familiar with optimization solvers (e.g., Gurobi) integrated into simulation workflows developed in MATLAB and Python

      • Experience with renewable energy and smart grid technologies, solutions, and concepts, combined with proficiency in power system analysis tools such as PowerFactory, PSCAD, or similar

      • Excellent communicator in English, both in writing and speaking

      • Background in the following power system topics: steady-state and dynamic stability analysis and modeling, fault analysis and power system protection, energy and ancillary service markets

      • Self-starter with a strong willingness to learn, capable of working independently while also being a reliable and collaborative team player
