The position is embedded in the research group of Judith Zaugg at the Department of Biomedicine, University of Basel. The group studies gene regulation and cellular plasticity in human disease, with a focus on hematology and immunology, using single-cell and spatial omics approaches to study tissue microenvironments. The position involves close collaboration with central core facilities, in particular the Histology Facility, as well as imaging and genomics facilities.

Your position

• Perform experimental work in the field of spatial transcriptomics and spatially multiplexed protein profiling
• Execute established molecular biology and immunoassay protocols independently
• Contribute to the development, optimization, and standardization of new experimental workflows
• Troubleshoot experimental procedures and ensure reproducibility and quality
• Take responsibility for defined parts of complex laboratory workflows
• Prepare and process biological samples, including tissue-based assays
• Maintain accurate and structured documentation of experiments
• Coordinate closely with the supervising staff scientist and collaborate with the Histology Facility Basel, with the pathology deparment, and with other core facilities

Your profile

• Completed training as a Biologielaborant:in EFZ or a Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related life sciences field with practical experience
• Proven hands-on laboratory experience is essential
• Strong practical skills in molecular biology and biochemical techniques
• Experience with immunological assays (e.g. ELISA, immunofluorescence) and antibody-based methods
• Experience in fluorescence microscopy is an advantage
• High precision in pipetting and ability to reliably follow complex experimental protocols
• Structured, careful, and independent working style
• Strong sense of responsibility and reliability
• Good command of English
