We are seeking an experienced Motor Underwriter to join our underwriting team in Birmingham. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in motor insurance, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for providing exceptional service. As a Motor Underwriter, you will be responsible for assessing risk, determining policy terms, and ensuring that our motor insurance products are both competitive and profitable

Key responsibilities:

• Assess and evaluate motor insurance applications to determine risk levels
• Develop and implement underwriting guidelines and policies
• Calculate premiums and establish terms and conditions for motor insurance policies
• Review and analyse claims data to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines
• Collaborate with brokers, agents, and other stakeholders to provide tailored insurance solutions
• Monitor market trends and adjust underwriting strategies to maintain competitiveness
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior underwriters and other team members
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

Your skills and experience:

• Previous experience in motor underwriting
• Strong knowledge of motor insurance products, risk assessment, and underwriting principles
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficient in using underwriting software and tools
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to make decisions using data and judgment
