Zurich US is currently looking for a Lead Expense Analystto work within the Planning & Performance Management teamand to play a pivotal role in shaping how we manage enterprise expenses and investments. This isn’t just about tracking numbers — it’s about driving performance. You’ll deliver actionable insights, build dynamic financial models, and uncover efficiencies that make a real impact
Reporting to the Director, Expense Management for Zurich US, you’ll lead planning, forecasting, and analysis of operational (OPEX) and capital (CAPEX, amortization, and more) expenditures, while ensuring IFRS compliant accounting treatment. In this highly visible role, you’ll collaborate with senior leadership across Business, Operations, Finance and HR to align financial objectives with business goals and influence decisions at the highest level
Zurich follows a hybrid work model requiring three days per week of in-person presence
What you will do:
Deliver timely, executive‑ready monthly, quarterly and annual expense reports and presentations with clear insights and commentary
Communicate financial insights clearly and confidently to senior leaders to inform decisions and align on strategic priorities
Build and run a performance‑management framework to track progress against financial goals, including OIE/NWP and ROI metrics
Lead and support operating, strategic and profitability reviews for the business unit; surface actions and ensure follow‑through
Manage investment spend across CAPEX and OPEX, align with asset lifecycles and ensure correct classification and compliance
Perform detailed financial analysis to identify trends, risks and opportunities; translate analysis into actionable recommendations
Define data requirements and perform complex analyses to support cross‑functional initiatives, projects and ad hoc requests
Partner with peers to provide data‑driven insights for operating expense optimisation and to unlock efficiencies
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance area
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance area
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including Associate Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance area
AN MBA and/or CPA designation is preferred but not mandatory
Knowledge of insurance (P&C/Life business) expense drivers and unit economics
Expertise in analytics, cost‑benefit analysis and automation of non‑value‑add tasks
Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills; proven analytical problem solving and the ability to synthesise complex data
Experience with ERP/planning tools (SAP/Oracle/Anaplan) and Coupa; comfortable driving tool and process enhancements
Strong understanding of IFRS standards and investment accounting (CAPEX/OPEX/amortization)
Excellent communication and stakeholder management; ability to influence without authority and collaborate across functions
Detail oriented, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. The pay range shown is a national average and may vary by location. The proposed Salary range for this position is $96,000.00 - $157,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%
