We are looking for a Senior Research Associate (In vivo) – Nicht-maligne Hämatologie (m/w/d) Metropolregion Basel****
      Background

Our research group focuses on the development and evaluation of innovative gene therapy approaches targeting non-malignant hematological disorders such as bleeding diseases, thrombotic conditions, and different forms of anemia. The team investigates the efficacy, safety, and translational potential of novel therapeutic strategies using both animal models and human biological samples.

In this role, you will contribute to preclinical research programs by supporting experimental studies involving in vivo disease models as well as ex vivo and in vitro assays. Working within a collaborative research team, you will generate and analyze data to characterize emerging gene therapy candidates and their impact on hemostasis and thrombosis.

The position combines hands-on animal experimentation with laboratory-based analytical work, covering the entire workflow from study preparation and execution to sample analysis and documentation.

      Responsibilities

      • Plan, perform, and evaluate in vivo experiments in rodent models, including procedures such as intravenous injections, blood sampling, plasma collection, and thrombosis or bleeding model studies
      • Assess the efficacy and safety of novel gene therapy candidates using molecular and biochemical assays
      • Conduct laboratory assays such as ELISA, thrombin generation assays, and chromogenic assays using murine and human samples
      • Process and analyze patient-derived biological material, including blood and plasma, in ex vivo and in vitro experimental settings
      • Perform data analysis and communicate findings within the project team
      • Maintain accurate experimental documentation and support general laboratory organization, safety standards, and inventory management

      Candidate Profile

We are looking for a motivated research associate with practical experience in in vivo experimentation and laboratory research within a collaborative scientific environment.

The ideal candidate has a background in life sciences and demonstrates strong technical expertise in animal handling and experimental study execution.

      Required Qualifications

      • MSc or BSc degree in Life Sciences (for example molecular biology, immunology, pharmacology, or coagulation biology) with 2–3 years of hands-on animal study experience

      or

      • Completed apprenticeship as a Research Associate / Laboratory Technician with 4–5 years of academic or industry experience
      • Active LTK1 certification (or FELASA equivalent) for animal experimentation
      • Proven experience working with rodents, including intravenous injections and blood collection
      • Solid experience in experimental design, data interpretation, and scientific documentation
      • Ability to independently plan and execute in vivo studies from preparation to completion
      • Fluency in English

Note: Candidates with a PhD are not considered for this role.

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Experience with animal surgery procedures
      • Knowledge of coagulation biology, hemostasis, or gene therapy approaches
      • Practical experience with biochemical and molecular assays such as ELISA, thrombin generation assays, or chromogenic assays
      • Previous experience working in an industrial research environment
