The opportunity
Hitachi Energy, High Voltage Products, is renowned worldwide as a specialist for power transmission and distribution. The Service unit is responsible for the worldwide after sales support of generator circuit-breaker (GCB) systems and gas insulated switchgears (GIS), including training, installation and commissioning, scheduled maintenance, added value services, troubleshooting, extensions, retrofits and replacements.
As a Technical Buyer, you act as a key interface between Procurement, Engineering, Quality, and our global supplier network. You ensure that technically specified materials, components, and services are clearly defined, technically clarified, qualified, and available in line with project, quality, and delivery requirements.
Through close cross‑functional collaboration, you translate engineering requirements into robust sourcing solutions and support supplier qualification and technical alignment. Your role contributes directly to product quality, supply reliability, and operational excellence, enabling Hitachi Energy to deliver innovative and sustainable energy solutions to our customers worldwide.
How you’ll make an impact
Perform technical clarification of materials, drawings, specifications, and engineering changes in close collaboration with Engineering and suppliers
Support and coordinate Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities, first samples, and supplier qualification processes
Conduct technical evaluations of alternative materials, deviation requests, and obsolescence cases
Collaborate closely with Strategic and Operational Buyers on supplier- and material-related topics
Support the handling of supplier complaints, Non‑Conformity Reports (NCRs), and root cause analyses
Support and participate in supplier assessments and technical supplier evaluations, including capability, quality, and process maturity reviews
Contribute to supplier performance evaluations together with Quality and Strategic Procurement
Ensure accuracy and completeness of material and supplier master data in SAP and act as the technical contact point during supplier escalations
Support Service Organization and Project Teams in complex or urgent procurement topics
Your background
Completed technical education (e.g. Polymechanic, Automation Technician, Mechanical Technician, Design Engineer or similar)
3-5 years experience in technical procurement or SCM‑related roles
Strong understanding of technical drawings, Bill of Material and manufacturing processes
Experience working with suppliers on technical and quality‑related topics
Structured, solution‑oriented, and communicative working style
Good German skills and very good English skills
SAP knowledge
